Hemorrhoid is a disorder caused by the swelling of the rectal and anal veins, forming a cyst and often blocking the anal opening of a person, in turn making it difficult for them to have bowel movements. Although it is an ailment that can happen to anybody, hemorrhoids in adults are known to be more prominent as compared to the younger generation. This may be due to plenty of factors, especially with the fact that adults tend to eat more and are more susceptible to digestion related disorders because of it.

Hemorrhoids in adults are often brought about by different physiological and environmental factors. This usually include having chronic constipation or diarrhea, acquiring pelvic tumors, spending prolonged periods sitting in the bowl, having a hard time to have bowel movement, or, in the case of women, by simply being pregnant. These instances cause inflammation to the rectal and anal veins of the adult, bringing hemorrhoids to the patients.

Hemorrhoids in adults may also display a wide variety of symptoms. These symptoms often range from a simple difficulty in bowel movement, to having mass of tissue bulging around the anus and often, painless rectal bleeding. Hemorrhoids may also cause anal itching due to the irritation of the skin surrounding the anus, or pain which is due to the swelling or inflammation of the vein in the area. Take note however, that severe pain could imply that the hemorrhoid could be a manifestation of another ailment that may be serious. At such point, this must be attended to immediately.

A recent study also explains that a person’s increase in BMI may also pose as an independent factor on why hemorrhoids often occur in the adult population. In fact, a huge and significant number of 38.93% confirms that they may have had or are currently suffering from the ailment. Further, out of the 38.93%, 44.74% of these people confirm that even if they do have hemorrhoids, they do not notice any symptoms or changes within their body. The variables given are indeed big enough, but this only shows that hemorrhoids, despite the severity of its case as an ailment, is still undermined and are not looked at and given focus as much as it should have in order for all people to learn how to properly care for themselves.

One thing a person should know in familiarizing yourself with hemorrhoids in adults is that there are instances which hemorrhoids often pose itself as a pre-stage to cancer related to the digestive system. Note that the swelling of the vein is because of the improper care given to your body; it may be because you consume the wrong type of food, or perhaps you do not find it necessary to ensure that you keep yourself clean and refreshed everyday; or maybe it could simply be as general and genetic as it could be. Either way, this serves as a warning signal, telling you that there is something wrong and you must be able to address it properly by trying to live a healthy lifestyle.
