Follow the normal pattern of your bowel movement, habitually done early in the morning. When you’re through, don’t force yourself to produce more, as straining causes pressure on your anal veins.

•Plunge in warm sitz bath. Sit in warm water with two tablespoons of salt, making sure that your bottom is submerged in the water; this will alleviate your pain and itchiness. It’s best done after your bowel movement, done at least twice daily for 10-15 minutes.

•Apply cold compress to the anal area to soothe down swelling. This constricts the dilated veins and numbs the pain.
