Hemorrhoids are the painful swelling or veins in or around the anal. It is of three types: the internal, external and prolapsed- extended internal hemorrhoids. Sometimes it can be treated at home by proper diet and care but extreme cases can be solved with surgery. Some people across the world confuse hemorrhoids, anal fissure, anal abscess, polyp, pruritus and colon cancer with each other but there is a good deal of difference between all of them and they all are very much difference between all of them.

Since a hemorrhoid is the disease due to the swollen or dilated veins of anus and rectum, anal fissure is the tears of sensitive mucosal lining of rectum and anus. In hemorrhoids symptoms can be rectal bleeding, bright red blood or a lump with pain and itching while on the other hand in Anal fissures cause pain during and sometimes after bowel movement and sometimes this pain can last for several hours associated with bleeding in the bowel or sometime on the surface of stool.

An anal abscess is a very unpleasant and unfortunate disease that can be confused with hemorrhoids easily. There are different stages of this disease a perirectal abscesses can occur deeper in rectal canal similar to internal hemorrhoid. The confusion occur between hemorrhoid and anal abscesses is due to the location that disease attacks on the body but as compared to hemorrhoids, anal abscesses is a worst condition of anus with unbearable pain with discharge of blood.

Sometime Colon cancer is confused with hemorrhoids because the symptoms in both of these diseases are almost similar. But the main thing that differentiates hemorrhoids with Colon cancer is the presence of tumor in anus that can block the passage or stool. In hemorrhoids there is blood or lump but no tumor is build due to which it is not very dangerous to health but Colon cancer can be very fatal if it is not treated in time.

Pruritus Ani which means itchy bottom syndrome is the itchy feeling in anus and rectum. It is totally different from hemorrhoid and its reasons and symptoms also differ greatly from the former one. Pruritus Ani can be caused by a number of factors like intake of beans; coffee citrus food, tight clothing and sometime obese people are more prone to it. This can be easily treated at home with cortisone creams or greasy ointments. Good hygiene can also serve as the best solution.

It has also been reported that people often mix or link hemorrhoids with Polyp which is a true growth of neoplasm or tumor arising from the inner lining of gul or from the lining of gallbladder. It is very dangerous disease and can often demand surgery to avoid cancer because it can cause the abnormal growth of colon lining, sometime it goes with pain and it is very difficult to diagnose it until it is degenerated into caner. The only similarity between hemorrhoids and Polyp can be the itching in anus.
