Is it possible to exercise with hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids can cause pain and discomfort but there are simple exercises for hemorrhoids that you can do regularly to help minimize its symptoms. On the other hand, some exercises can also aggravate the symptoms of hemorrhoids, so you have to choose the right exercise. Hemorrhoids should not stop you from exercising and deter you from reaping its benefits like burning of calories and tone muscles.

Hemorrhoids do not pose any serious health risk and are most of the time, small but they can grow up to a size of a golf ball. They can cause pain, itchiness and discomfort. Due to gravity, blood pools in the anal area, posing higher risks for hemorrhoids. In some cases, hemorrhoids cause bleeding and require a consultation with the doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Unfortunately, not all exercises are good for hemorrhoids. Weight lifting can agitate hemorrhoids as they use techniques, such as holding their breath while lifting, add pressure on the hemorrhoids. Bicycling can also add pain and discomfort to your hemorrhoids. Horseback riding and rowing can also add more pressure in your sensitive areas so it is better to stay away from these exercises.

On the contrary, there are exercises that help increase blood flow which hastens the delivery of oxygen and nutrients in the problem areas, helping to reduce swelling and inflammation. To help ease the symptoms, exercises for hemorrhoids such as walking, swimming and running can help boost your vascular elasticity and also helps prevent hemorrhoids. Yoga also improves the muscle tone in the affected areas and helps keep the supportive tissues strong. Exercises that strengthen and tone the muscles in the sphincter such as the buttocks exercise while you are sitting or standing will also help. Start by tightening the muscles in your buttocks while inhaling, and then relax after exhaling. Do this repeatedly a couple of times a day.

Aerobics like Pilates can also help increase blood flow and improve muscle tone that helps alleviate the symptoms of hemorrhoids. Waist stretch can also strengthen your sphincter muscles. Do this by standing without shoes and slowly rising on your toes. Raise your hands up to your head until they are high enough. Bend to your waist forward while bringing down your arms straight at your front. Bend as much as you can until you are near the floor. At this point, you will feel the muscles in your anus being strengthened. This exercise can be done twice daily for better results.

Torso rotations initiate centrifugal force in the body which reduces blood in the bulging veins of internal hemorrhoids. On a sit-up position and your arms stretched on the floor, your feet should be against the wall with your back straight. Rotate your torso twice to three times in each direction. Gradually increase the rotations as needed. Ten rotations per session are ideal for this exercise.

Even with hemorrhoids, you can still exercise. These are specific exercises for hemorrhoids that you can perform to help ease the symptoms of your condition.
