Hemorrhoids are one of the most painful disorders a person would ever have. No matter what age, no matter what occupation, no matter what condition, it will always be very uncomfortable and horrible. What’s even more painful, not just physically, is when the hemorrhoid is so large it needs surgery. Good thing hemorrhoid pills are created for the comfort of persons with hemorrhoids.

Many brand names have been on the rise lately and as fast as these brand names rise, many questions are asked. Could it really cure and treat my hemorrhoid? Will I not have a recurrence? Will it be better if I resort to this instead of a surgery? What side effects could I experience? How long will it take for me to take these pills?

Although there is no exact explanation on the mechanism of action of these hemorrhoid pills, many people testified that these have been effective on their situation. Some are known to shrink the anal veins and prevent blood from pooling down on the pelvic area. Some are also known to shrink the hemorrhoid itself. But most have claimed that these pills are not really to cure the hemorrhoids as recurrence is dependent on the person’s lifestyle but it is only to alleviate its symptoms.

Most of these usually contain natural ingredients that are readily absorbable by a person’s body. Although different brands contain different ingredients, most of their ingredients are common in function. Their ingredients usually are known for an anti inflammatory effect and aid in better digestion due to high fiber content. Example of which are witch hazel leaf and horse chestnut leaf, ginger root, Melia Azadirachta, Messua Ferea, and many others. Because most of the pills are made of natural ingredients, no specific and serious side effects have been mentioned but as the action anti-inflammatory suggests, these pills would most probably cause nausea.

As mentioned earlier, the recurrence of the hemorrhoid depends on the person’s lifestyle. Even if the person is taking hemorrhoid pills, recurrence if possible if he still takes diet low in fiber and doesn’t take adequate amount of fluids. The person’s occupation could also affect the possibility of a recurrence as jobs that require prolonged sitting are of high risk. Because of this, the question on how long the pills are to be taken would always depend on the severity of the hemorrhoid and the motivation of the person to be treated.

So what are the advantages and disadvantages of using the pills? Well, these would alleviate symptoms of the disorder such as bleeding and pain. When the person would take the pills and maintain a proper lifestyle habits, the curing rate would be very high. The disadvantage, however, is that it is not a promising treatment modality as the effect would always be dependent on the person’s lifestyle. It could be an option for hemorrhoids that are not so severe but a surgery would most likely be indicated for very severe cases.

Hemorrhoid pills would most probably be the most desired treatment modality for most individuals but is it always best to consult first a physician for the possibility of its use.
